What to Wear for Your Maternity Photography Session
A simple guide to choosing outfits that photograph beautifully for your maternity session at my Melbourne studio.
The best advice I can give is to coordinate rather than match.
If your partner or children are joining your maternity session, choose colours that complement each other without everyone wearing exactly the same thing. Soft neutrals, creams, beige, white, black and muted tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you, your family and your growing bump.
Don't stress too much about getting everything perfect - if you're unsure, you're always welcome to bring a couple of options and I can help you choose on the day.
Professional hair and makeup is available as an optional add-on to help you look and feel your best.

For Mum
The best part? You don't need to worry about finding the perfect outfit for your maternity session.
Every maternity package includes access to my collection of beautiful maternity gowns, with a range of colours, styles and fabrics to choose from. We'll choose your gowns together on the day to suit you, your style and the look you want for your images.
If you'd like to bring something of your own, you're more than welcome to. Simple, fitted pieces in neutral tones photograph beautifully and can give us another look during your session.
Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable and beautiful. I'll guide you with posing throughout your session, so you don't need to know what to do in front of the camera.
Professional hair and makeup is also available as an optional add-on if you'd like the full experience.
Every Maternity package includes access to my curated designer gown collection.
For Dad
Keep it simple. Plain, neutral colours photograph best and work beautifully alongside my maternity gowns.
A plain black, white, beige or grey T-shirt works well, or bring a white button-up shirt for another option. Please avoid large logos, busy patterns and bright colours.
I also recommend bringing a plain black T-shirt, as this works especially well with some of my darker, more dramatic maternity portraits.
For couples who are comfortable with it, we can also create beautiful skin-to-skin maternity portraits with Dad shirtless.
For Siblings
If your children are joining your maternity session, keep their outfits simple and coordinate them with Mum and Dad rather than having everyone match exactly.
Soft neutrals, creams, whites, beige and muted tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your family and your growing bump.
Try to avoid large logos, bold patterns, neon colours and very busy outfits. Simple is always best.
Don't worry if you're unsure what will work - you're welcome to bring a couple of options and I can help you choose on the day.
Keep clothing simple and timeless where possible.
Avoid large logos, busy checks, very fine stripes, neon colours and overly shiny fabrics, as these can distract from the overall image.
Neutral, soft and earthy tones work beautifully in the studio and coordinate well with my maternity gown collection.
